«I don’t forget any of them whether they were good or bad». They cross the ocean to meet the stars and get their autographs and photos with them. Johanna and Kimberly, mother and daughter, didn’t miss any edition from the Cannes Film Festival since eight years. They both keep all their souvenirs from the festival in an abum and never show it to anybody. The two American ladies have hundreds of autographs for Nicole Kidman, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and many other actors and actresses.

[ENG] « As homing pigeons » they will return to Aleppo !

« While we were shooting we thought, many times, that we are going to die ». Hanna Karim is a Christian from Aleppo in Syria, who stood against the barbaric invasions of the « Islamic State ». He did not leave his city. He watched Aleppo being destroyed and his friends being killed by these monsters. He finally decided to make a movie about the return to his motherland. He dedicated it to the city, the souls and the martyrs. « As homing pigeons », Hanna’s movie, is participating in the Cannes Film Festival in the the Short Movie Corner.

[ENG] Steve Wood: 20 editions through his lens

Steve Wood, British photographer, had spent his life in the world of photography. As one of the chief photographers of the English national paper, The Daily Express, Wood spent time on the front lines of war, in fashion shows, and found a way to document the Royal family. He covered 20 editions of the Cannes Film Festival and accompanied Princess Diana to the 40th edition in 1987. He describes the event as “the best organized mess”.

[ENG] “Much Loved” broke the boundaries in Morocco

Some stories are unbelievable. I didn’t dare to include them in the movie”. Much Loved, directed by Nabil Ayouch, was selected for the Cannes 2015 Directors’ Fortnight sidebar program. The director came to Cannes, in 2012, for his movie God’s Horses, which competed in the “Un Certain Regard” section. This controversial movie crossed the lines by treating a taboo in Morocco. After one year and a half of inquiry, Ayouch decided to tell the stories of four prostitutes struggling to survive in Marrakesh. It went viral on social media. “It is time to tell the truth because we are seek and tired of hiding it behind a finger. It is not a way to succeed”, said the director.

[ENG] A Lebanese movie won the Short Film Palme d’or

“If we want to get better we have to be more criticizing and try to change things”. Waves ’98 is a short animated film written and directed by Ely Dagher. It is the only animation movie to be nominated for the Short Film Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The film tells the story of Omar, a high-school kid living in the suburbs of Beirut in the late 1990s, struggling with his disillusionment with his social bubble. The film is a meditation on Dagher’s relationship with Beirut, his hometown, since he traveled to Brussels.
